Using Basecamp for Easy Project Collaboration, Management, and Organization
On April 5, 2014 CDO ICT Business Council Syntactics Inc. held a workshop on a project management app called Basecamp, which has been growing in popularity among several businesses. With their resource speaker Ms. Geraldine Ricalde, the Syntactics Web Team Leader, the participating companies were given in-depth information and a live demonstration of how to use the app.
Basecamp has been in the business for 15 years and has helped over 285,000 companies accomplish about 2,000,000 projects. It’s reliable and easy to use.
In fact, Basecamp holds a free weekly 30-minute classes that offer a live Question & Answer Forum afterwards. Their class schedules are posted on their website at www.basecamp.com for those who are interested in learning more about the app.
“No matter how many projects you have, how many people work on them, it keeps everything organized at one place.” says Ms. Ricalde during her talk on the app. Basecamp helps you keep a neat track on the project and the people who are currently handling it.
With the app’s web-based calendar, managers and team leaders can easily assign tasks to their team members and track their progress. Clients also have easy access to how the project is being carried out and who is doing what. It is a convenient way for the whole team to see what has already been accomplished, and what still needs accomplishing.
Consistently sending emails about updates and important information about a project can be quite messy, and some can even get lost in the flood of emails. Also at times it does not always keep everyone in the loop because they either did not receive the email, or simply did not read it.
Basecamp solves the messy email problem with its simple notifications. It can notify a person, whether a team leader, member or client, when:
● They have been invited to a project
● They were assigned a task
● There is a deadline and if there have been any changes to the deadline
● It is a day before an assigned task’s deadline
● A task has been completed by a team member
● You are included in a message, comment or file notification
This ensures that everyone working on a certain project is always updated on what everyone else is doing. There will no longer be a need to send emails upon emails of task updates and project progress since everything you need to know is basically there.
A demonstration of the Basecamp app was carried out using the free trial account that is on their website. There, the participating companies saw for themselves how Basecamp can become the most efficient collaboration tool for their business.
The participating companies were as follows: Cleversoft Inc., Redlemon Digital Media, Innovuze Solutions Inc., Dataworld Computer Center, Arriba Telecontact, COC-PHINMA, Liceo de Cagayan University and PCCI-CDO.
The trial version is available for 60 days, which is ample time for anyone interested to test the waters and see for themselves just how convenient the app is.
